Cookie Notice
Last updated: 1 June 2026
1. About Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser or on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences between visits, and to help site owners understand how their pages are used. A cookie typically contains the name of the site that set it, a value, and an expiry time. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your device. This Cookie Notice explains how MeetCanada, an independent Vancouver-based travel resource operating meetcanada.live, uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.
2. Cookies We Use
MeetCanada keeps its use of cookies deliberately minimal. The table below describes each cookie, its purpose, type, and how long it lasts.
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies so the consent banner does not reappear. | Until cleared |
The cookie_consent preference is stored using your browser’s local storage rather than a traditional tracking cookie, and it holds only the value “accepted” or “declined.” It contains no personal information and is never shared with third parties.
3. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the Site to function and to honour your choices. Without the consent preference described above, the cookie banner would appear on every page load. Because these are required for basic functionality and your stated preferences, they are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the Site reliably.
4. Analytics and Performance Cookies
MeetCanada does not currently use analytics or performance cookies on meetcanada.live. If we introduce them in the future to understand aggregate traffic and improve our content, we will update this Notice and request your consent through the cookie banner before any such cookies are set.
5. Marketing Cookies
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not allow third parties to place tracking cookies for behavioural advertising through our Site. Note that when you follow a booking link to an independent tour operator, that operator’s own website may set its own cookies, which are governed by the operator’s policies and not by this Notice.
6. Managing Cookies
You can manage cookies in two ways. First, you can use the consent banner on our Site to accept or decline cookies; declining is respected and stored as your preference. Second, you can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data;
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data;
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data;
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Please note that clearing your browser storage will remove the cookie_consent preference, so the banner will appear again on your next visit. Disabling essential storage may limit some functionality of the Site.
7. Legal Basis
Our use of cookies is consistent with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act. Strictly necessary cookies rely on our legitimate interest in operating the Site, while any future analytics or marketing cookies would be set only with your express consent. For more detail on how we handle personal information, see our Privacy Notice.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this Cookie Notice to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law. The “Last updated” date above shows when the most recent version took effect. If you have questions about our use of cookies, contact MeetCanada at hello@meetcanada.live.
